How do I swap out a Node while keeping the data from both old and new devices linked to the same site via Datasource ID?

Need to swap out a Node because it failed or reached the end of its life — but don't want to lose the continuous record for that site? The Replace action keeps both the old and new device's data flowing into the same Datasource. This takes a couple of minutes.

Before you start

  • You'll need to be signed in to the Clarity Dashboard.
  • Have the replacement Node available in your inventory.

1. Open the Node you're replacing

This is the Node currently configured at the site.

  1. In the left panel, go to Devices → Nodes.
  2. Select the Node you want to replace from the Configured Nodes table.
  3. Click the Actions button.

2. Replace it with a Node from inventory

This swaps the device while keeping the Datasource running.

  1. Select Replace from the dropdown.
  2. Select a Node in inventory to use as the replacement.
  3. Click Confirm.

You're done! The old Node moves to inventory, the new one is configured at its location, and the Datasource keeps running — now with measurements from the new Node.
